Scrappy Sunday
Today was my favorite kind of Sunday - a nice, quiet, scrappy Sunday. So relaxing, it's just what I needed.
When we purchased our home, we knew we wanted to build a barn and kept trying to find the perfect one for inspiration. My husband found a photo of a barn and we both knew instantly that it was "the one!" I printed a copy of the photo and kept it in a file until our barn was built. I couldn't believe our luck to get so many beautiful snowfalls the first winter after we built it - it was a winter wonderland, just like our inspiration photo. My first layout is one that I've wanted to do for a long time, but could never get rolling on it. When I opened Cocoa Daisy's September kit, the inspiration hit me. Here is my layout, From Dream to Reality.
I love the Pink Paislee wooden letters that came in the kit. I wanted to mimic our barn stain so I misted the letters with Mister Huey (Overdue) and then used Distress Ink (Weathered Wood) on top. Check it out, it looks just like our barn wood!
I feel blessed and humbled to be living our dream. ♥

Art Inspired by Autumn
When Christy Tomlinson announced her new workshop, Pumpkins & Cider, I knew I had to join. Our first project is Halloween inspired. Several years ago, my daughter was a princess for Halloween. We actually bought the costume while on a trip to Disney World and I used a photo from that Halloween as my inspiration for my canvas.
This is the photo and a quick sketch I drew to get started on the project.
This workshop is overflowing with inspiration, my head is spinning with ideas! Go grab your sketch pad or your camera and capture the things you love about fall. Thanks for stopping by!

Making It Cozy With Fabric
My poor blog has been neglected for a couple of weeks. I was hit with an urge to deep-clean my house, decided to paint a piece of furniture, hosted a book club brunch, and made some window treatments for my kitchen! Check out the transformation!
It's amazing what a little fabric can do to soften and complete a room. I love the happy colors and pattern of this fabric.
I think I've had enough of house work and miscellaneous project. I'm ready to relax and scrap!

Collage Challenge
Kim's challenge was to use a collage as inspiration. When I approached this challenge, I thought I would make it artsy/messy, but when I saw this chalkboard paper by Fancy Pants, I decided to do something different. I had random Instagram photos from our vacation and new the white-framed prints would look fabulous on the dark background.
I stamped the chalkboard paper with Brilliance ink pads to create subtle dimension using Christy Tomlinson stamps. I then grabbed some Cocoa Daisy stamps and embossing powder and went crazy! lol One thing I love about collages are cut-out words, so I created that effect with paper, embossing, and a collection of mini alphas.

Southern Comfort Savannah Style
A couple of years ago, on our way to Hilton Head Island, we stopped in beautiful Savannah, GA for a few hours. Since my kids have grown up with Food Network, they knew Paula Dean's restaurant is located there, so of course, we stopped by to have lunch. It was so crowded, the wait was several hours, so we opted out and did a little shopping in the gift shop. Fast forward two years and we're heading to HHI again, so I planned ahead and made reservations. What a fun and delicious way to spend an afternoon in Savannah. I just took a few Instagram photos with my phone to capture the moment. The following is a layout I created using the gorgeous Citrus Twist Kit and a few goodies from my stash.
I fussy cut some flowers from the Heidi Swapp Beautiful paper and even added some stitching and french knots for dimension. I simply adore the way this turned out, it may be one of my new favorites! (You may click on image to enlarge.)
