Amusement Park Adventure

When I received the Cocoa Daisy August Kit, I knew it would be perfect for our Kings Island photos. Check out the cute little die cut in the shape of Ohio -- I have all 50 states thanks to Stephanie from Cocoa Daisy! The hardest part was finding the right state. lol I have all kinds of ideas for these little gems!
I adore these Heidi Swapp words that came in the kit. They add such a fun element to the page!
I can't believe how in a few short months, our son has turned from the cautious one to an adrenaline junkie. That's what I get for teaching him to overcome his dread of coasters! lol
I have to admit, these pictures still make me slightly nauseated. My husband let our daughter ride The Slingshot and I believe it scarred her for life! The good news is that I believe her thrill-seeking days are over, for now.
This was truly a day to remember and I'm so happy to have it documented! I do have a few more layouts to complete from our adventure in the park -- I hope you come back to check those out, as well!

It's All About the Shoes

This layout was created for the Cocoa Daisy August Sketch Challenge. My Son has always wanted a pair of white soccer cleats, and I have always put the kibosh on that idea. After all, they would be filthy after one game, right? This year, while shopping, it dawned on me... it's such a simple request, who cares if they get dirty -- let the boy get the shoes! Of course, he wanted a photo with his fabulous cleats. Just look how happy he is, stylin' with his pristine cleats.
Here is the sketch from Anna at Cocoa Daisy.
The cleats are not sparkling white now, but he still loves putting them on for every game. When I look at the dirty shoes, they now bring a smile to my face. ♥ *************************************************** Products used: July Cocoa Daisy Kit, misc. products from stash

New Kit in Town

If you know me at all, you know I love a good kit club. Since we no longer have a local scrap store, I rely heavily on lovely kits to get the latest and greatest mix of products. While perusing the 2Peas message board, I came across a thread about kit clubs. Citrus Twist was mentioned in the thread as a new club so I thought I would check it out. It was truly love at first sight... I immediately signed up for a three month subscription. This kit has washi tape, Mister Huey mist, exclusive stamps, and a stamp pad! Check it out...
It even came with a sheet showing some of the gorgeous projects the design team have created.
If this scrappy goodness appeals to you, check out Citrus Twist here. It's been a good (scrappy) week for me... I received my prize package for winning a challenge from the Core'dinations Hard Core' Crop.
I also won a challenge at Cocoa Daisy and received a $10.00 gift certificate! As you can see, there are many benefits to participating in on-line scrappy communities and challenges. Now that I have several new kits and challenges waiting for me, I think I'll go play! Have a great weekend!

My Newest Obsession...

Is embossing! I just love that I can add dimension to my favorite stamps! For this layout, I stamped 100% Brave Girl with VersaMark on different colors of cardstock. I then added fun colors of Zing Embossing Powder and heat set the words. I then cut out the pieces to mimic the patterned paper. Foam pop-up pieces were used to add even more dimension to the page. I then got really brave and tried it on a Flair badge -- and much to my surprise, it actually worked. I was afraid the plastic on the badge would melt, but luckily, it didn't.
Sometimes I add random things that aren't really "scrapbook" items to my layouts. Check out this cute Post-It note from Target... I just stamped the Post-It note with the just a note stamp from Studio Calico! ♥
My tip of the day: Don't just collect embossing powders so they look pretty on your shelf -- grab your heat gun and have some fun! *************************************************** Products used: Studio Calico Summer of '69 kit, Flair Badge, Smash Tape, Zing Embossing Powder, Glitz Teeny Alpha, Technique Tuesday stamps

Challenge: Things That Make You Smile

This Cocoa Daisy challenge was issued by Stephanie and the hardest part was narrowing down the choices. After all, there are so many things that make me smile. I finally decided on these photos of P. and her coconut. She's always had an obsession with coconuts (and eyeballs) and she was begging me to buy her a real coconut to taste. P. has such a fun imagination - she wanted to name her coconut and decided on Adobo because she loves to say it. Thanks to a You Tube video, we learned how to find the soft eye of the nut so we could drain it and taste the juice. We then baked, cracked, and ate Adobo. Sad, I know. Here is my take on the challenge...
Such a fun memory! I thought the My Mind's Eye Miss Caroline paper was perfect for the challenge. I still have some fun pics left of Adobo - this may turn into a 2-pager. :) Thanks for stopping by!
