Cut It Up Saturday with Paper Issues

I'm so excited to be sharing one of my first projects as a Paper Issues Creative Team member. I started with Danielle's gorgeous snowflake background cut file as my inspiration. Sadly we didn't have a white Christmas, but I wasn't going to let that stop me from using the cut file.

For this layout, I used Pinkfresh Studio's Christmas Wishes collection and some enamel dots from my stash. Random Layouts and Process Video

Now that I've started creating process videos on YouTube, I've been neglecting my blog. It's hard to find the time and energy to do it all. Today will be a quick post, sharing several of my latest layouts to prove to myself that I haven't been a total slacker. :) Most of the layouts were created for challenges on the Hip Kit Club Facebook forum.

We are officially on Spring Break and Mother Nature is being a little obnoxious; we had a hard freeze last night. While I'm waiting for it to warm up today, I think I'll do a little scrapping! Happy Spring to you all! xo

When Scrap Challenges Push Creativity, Magic Happens!

This week's challenge at Hip Kit Club was a doozy... Create a layout with a white background, paint embellishments white, and then (the biggie) cut the layout to fit into divided page protectors. I only have 2 types of divided page protectors 6x6 and 4x6, so my options were a bit limited. The photos I selected were from the most beautiful snowfall we had last year. I thought they would pair well with the white aspect of the challenge. I laid out the die cut words on the page protectors to see which direction this layout would take.

To create interest and dimension, I grabbed my favorite snow stencil (Simon Says Stamps Falling Snow),Faber-Castell Whipped Spackle, and white cardstock. The wonderful thing about Whipped Spackle is that it dries so quickly.

For the painted elements, I chose wood veneer snowflakes, acrylic letters (I painted them on the backside, and added dots to the front with a white pen), and did a white-wash over the kraft die-cut frame and the cork piece. To play off of the gorgeous, golden sun streaming through on the photos, I decided to use a few gold elements. I was thrilled to find out that the Ranger Liquid Platinum embossing powder was a perfect match to the Amy Tangerine Love die-cut, so I embossed the heart on the frame.

In the end, I removed it from the divided page protector and converted back to 12x12. I truly LOVE this layout and it's all because of a fun challenge. A Crop + Empty House = Productivity

Sometimes the scrappy stars align and make for the perfect time to create. This past weekend was one of those... I had an empty house and Cocoa Daisy was hosting an online crop. Seriously, how lucky can one girl be? :) The challenges the design team put forth were fabulous and (luckily), my mojo showed up for the party. The weekend was full of chats, fun, inspiration, and general craziness and I loved every second of it! There were 7 challenges offered and so far I've completed 4.

Happy New Year!

I'm starting out the new year in a scrappy zone. I've completed seven layouts in the past few days and it feels great! I want to share a fun layout I created using my Silhouette Cameo. It's been collecting dust for the past few months and it's time to change that. I started out with a snowflake background and decided to use a sketch pen instead of the cut feature. I LOVE how this turned out and I think you will, too.

To mat the photos, I used patterned paper and misted with Heidi Swapp Color Shine. I stamped the snowflakes using VersaMark and heat embossed using Zing embossing powder. It adds lovely dimension to the paper.

With just a few cut words, snowflakes, and embellishments, the layout is complete! I love the versatility of the Cameo and need to make better use of it. Even though the layout looks complicated, the Cameo made this so easy!
