Officially Ready for Summer!

Wow, school has been out for a month and I still haven't relaxed much! I haven't been doing as much scrapping as I would like, but I have been busy with fun projects. First up are some rusty chairs that I spray-painted. It's amazing what a little paint can do! Check this out...

When our daughter was away at camp, I completely transformed her room. It was lots of hard work but so worth it, seeing the look of joy on her face when she walked into her room. The chandelier used to have pink flowers and green leaves, it was transformed with spray paint! I'm trying to figure out what else needs an update around here. lol

I have managed to squeeze in a little scrapping, too. Here are a few of my latest layouts.

Now that summer is officially here (tomorrow), it's time to kick back and enjoy. Thank you for stopping by my blog, wishing you a fun-filled summer!

Trading Spaces

When we moved into our house four years ago, we moved into a smaller home. Although it was not our ideal situation, we made the best of it and crammed most of our furniture into the space. I never loved having a big, bulky sectional right off my kitchen. In our last house, the beast was hidden away in a room above the garage, where I didn't actually have to see it. Now I was forced to look at it all.day.long, never escaping it's massive shadow. In the beast's defense, it was so comfortable that it could almost be forgiven for its ugliness.

Fast-forward 3 1/2 years, and I was finally able to talk my husband into getting rid of the beloved sectional. I always wanted the space to hold our farmhouse table, so at a moment's notice I could seat a crowd. I truly love the feel of a big eat-in kitchen, where everyone gathers and loves to hang out. Within two days, we had the sectional sold (yay!), and all the furniture pieces in place. Now I truly love the feel of the space - family dinners are much more relaxed since we're not trying to squeeze into our seats.

Here are a few close-ups of some of my favorite pieces:

This last piece used to be gold and I gave it an update with Benjamin Moore Palladian Blue. It's so fresh and fun, I love how it turned out. It's amazing how simply trading spaces within our home has transformed it into a relaxing environment.

Pinterest Inspiration

We all know we're addicted to Pinterest, so we might as well embrace it and have fun with it! Yesterday, I attended a fabulous Pinterest party where all the invitees were asked to bring food or crafts inspired by Pinterest. As you can imagine, I took on a craft project. :)

This was the inspiration...

and below is my finished project...

I purchased the 5x5 frame, and the chipboard letter from Hobby Lobby. I first misted the letter with Mister Huey's Classic Calico to give the letter a kraft look (instead of gray.) I then traced the letter onto the patterned paper (My Mind's Eye Kraft Fun Day), cut it out and adhered it with spray adhesive. A little inking around the letter and it's done... so easy! I used burlap over Bazzill kraft cardstock for the matting (also using spray adhesive.)

I really love how this little project turned out! Projects like this help me justify my hours spent on Pinterest. Challenge yourself to actually make something you've pinned -- I think you'll find it fun and rewarding.
